Welcome to my Ninja BL642 review. I used this blender every day for a month. This machine is for busy people. It is great if you need to crush ice fast. The huge power makes it very special. My quick opinion is that it works great.
But it is not perfect. It has a few small flaws. You will learn them all here. This is a real look at a very loud machine. Let us jump right in.
Quick Verdict
Here is my short take on this machine. You can scan this fast to see if it fits your life.
| Category | Verdict |
| Best For | Busy mornings and big batches |
| Not Ideal For | Quiet homes or tiny kitchens |
| Biggest Strength | Raw motor power |
| Biggest Weakness | Very loud noise |
| Overall Rating | Good overall value |
Unboxing & First Impressions
I took it out of the box. The base feels very heavy and strong. The clear BPA-free jar is huge. I noticed a slight plastic smell at first. It went away after one wash.
The blade assembly is very sharp. Watch your fingers. It takes up lots of countertop space. The cord is nice and long. The lid lock snaps tight. The buttons feel a bit stiff but work fine.
Blending Performance
This is the most important part of my Ninja BL642 review. I tested its motor power on real food to see how it works.
I made a frozen fruit smoothie first. It got smooth fast on high speed. There were no chunks. But I saw my smoothie leaking from bottom blade seal once. I did not screw it on tight enough.
Next, I tried crushing ice. It turns cubes into snow fast. But I found ice chunks not fully crushed at low speed. You must use high speed or the pulse function here.
Then I tried hot tomato soup. The blending performance was great. But I had the lid popping off mid-blend from hot soup pressure! You must vent it well. I also got splatter marks on counter after opening lid too fast.
I also tried a thick blend like peanut butter. It is hard work. You will see fibrous ingredients wrapping around blades quickly. The motor gets very warm. You must stop and scrape the jar.
Real-Life Daily Use Experience
My morning routine is much faster now. You just cannot be forgetting to lock lid before blending. The blender will not start if you forget. Pouring drinks is very easy and clean.
The gasket smelling after blending garlic or onion is annoying. You must wash it right away. The variable speed control is easy to use. The display lights up well. The fast workflow makes up for the bad smells.
Design & Build Quality
The heavy plastic feels very tough. The base stays totally flat on my counter.
| Feature | Quality | Material |
| Base | Stable | Thick Plastic |
| Pitcher | Clear | BPA-Free Plastic |
| Blades | Sharp | Metal |
| It looks nice for the price. I do see small scratches on the jar now. But it holds up well to hard use every day. |
Noise Level
I will be honest here. The noise level is very high. The motor loudness during blending is huge.
You cannot talk while it runs. A loud motor waking people up early morning is a real risk. Even the pulse function sound is loud. The base vibrates, but the rubber feet keep it safe.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Cleaning is simple if you are quick. Rinsing jar immediately so residue doesn’t dry is my top rule.
| Part | Easy to Clean? | Dishwasher Safe? |
| Pitcher | Yes | Yes |
| Blades | Careful | Yes |
| Base | Wipe only | No |
| The self-clean cycle works well with warm water. But beware of the jar discoloring after blending turmeric. The yellow stain stays. Watch out for dirty gasket and seal residue too. Removing the sharp blade assembly is safe if you hold the top stem. |
Pros and Cons
Here are the main good and bad points. No machine is truly perfect.
| Pros | Cons |
| Huge motor power | Very loud |
| Fast blend speed | Takes up space |
| Good leak-proof lid | Hard to clean thick foods |
Comparison With Similar Blenders
I want to compare this to another good model I know. Both machines are very strong.
Ninja Professional Plus
The Plus model is also very strong. They both make a great smoothie texture.
| Feature | Ninja BL642 | Ninja Pro Plus |
| Power | 1500 Watts | 1400 Watts |
| Extra Cups | Yes | No |
| Auto-iQ | Yes | Yes |
| The BL642 gives you more value with the small cups. The noise is almost the same. Both machines clean up very easily. |
Who Should Buy This Blender?
This blender is for a specific type of person. Look at these points.
Buy This If: | You want fast drinks | | You crush lots of ice | | You cook big meals |
Avoid This If: | You need a quiet home | | You have a tiny kitchen | | You hate bulky items |
Long-Term Durability
After weeks of use, it runs like new. But all things wear down. The blade sharpness might drop over months. The jar scratching is very normal for plastic.
A loose blade assembly possibility exists if you wash it in hot water a lot. The buttons still feel fine. Motor performance consistency is great so far. Gasket degradation over time is my only big fear.
Energy Efficiency
The big motor uses a lot of power. You can feel heat buildup during long blends. It works best for fast jobs.
It is highly efficient for single servings. It has a great auto shut-off to stop motor heat. It is worth using daily for meal prep. It does make a little kitchen heat output during blending.
Final Verdict of My Ninja BL642 Review
My final thoughts are mostly good. It is a workhorse for ice and fruit. The best strengths are sheer power and speed. The worst weakness is the loud noise.
I genuinely recommend it if you want power on a tight budget. It offers a lot of value. Just be ready for the noise.
